The hike with your dog as a companion is possible, but there are some things you should keep in mind.

Assess your four-legged friend correctly! Is your dog fit for the mountains? Please find out beforehand whether your chosen accommodation allows dogs. Does your four-legged friend like suspension bridges? If not, assess whether you can carry him over the length. The Aspi-Titter suspension bridge is 120 m long and the Fürgangen - Mühlebach suspension bridge is 280 m long.

The Stoneman runs along a scenically beautiful route. The trail sections, root and stone passages are doable – but require a minimum of hiking experience and endurance. Especially for the ridge hike, in addition to hiking experience, sufficient surefootedness, concentration as well as a head for heights are required, because the Bettmergrat is an alpine hiking trail and is accordingly marked with blue and white markings. As an attractive alternative for the ridge hike, the panorama trail can be chosen, which offers an equally unique view of the large Aletsch glacier. In terms of endurance, the Stoneman is not a race, but your individual challenge. The bronze tour over three days is also well manageable for motivated recreational hikers - or for all those for whom the adventure and the landscape experience are in the foreground.

Each Stoneman lasts from 1 to 3 days – we call it gold, silver and bronze.

Decide for yourself whether you want to complete the route in one day, take three days to enjoy nature or choose the middle way and gehst for two days.

By the way: If you realize during your Wanderung that you have taken on too much or too little, you can also change the category in between. For example from gold to silver – or the other way around!

The opening of the trail depends heavily on the snow situation (Märjela/Bettmergrat), so the season usually ends in mid/late October. It is crucial that you stay on the Stoneman route during the sunny hours to give the beautiful flora and fauna along the route room to rest. From July to August you have the most time for your Stoneman, during these months the daily sun duration is over 13 hours.

Juli and ends on 20. Oktober. The opening of the route depends strongly on the snow situation (Märjela/Bettmergrat).

One of the highlights of the Stoneman Glaciara Hike is undoubtedly the ridge walk from the spectacular viewpoint of the Eggishorn to the Bettmerhorn. Please note two things before you start:
On the one hand, the Bettmergrat is an alpine hiking trail and is accordingly marked with blue and white markings. Please remember to take this into account when choosing your ridge hike and, in addition to your hiking experience, bring sufficient surefootedness and a head for heights.
On the other hand, you have to pay attention to the weather and the conditions in the alpine region. Surprising weather changes are not uncommon in this area. This applies at all times and especially before the ridge walk.

If the ridge is not passable due to weather conditions or you lack the necessary surefootedness, you can switch to the Panorama Trail. This equally breathtaking alternative is a northern bypass that brings you even closer to the ice giant.

A minimum of equipment is strongly recommended: suitable footwear, tape, blister plaster, headlamp, a suitable backpack with rain protection, the right clothes for any weather. First aid kit, food and drinking vessel to fill up. If you are missing any equipment, check out BIKE24, our trusted partner. When it comes to equipment, think of yourself as well - you should definitely have enough water and small energy sources with you.

The official start of your Stoneman will be at your lodging partner or your official drop-off point. In principle, each of our lodging partners has sufficient parking space available. To be on the safe side, we recommend a quick call to your chosen starting point.

By making a reservation, we guarantee the availability of your starter package on the specified starting date - either at an official distribution point or at your lodging partner.

On site you can pick up your starter package the afternoon before the tour - also those of your team members, as long as the team name on the reservations matches.

If it is not possible to collect your starter oack, it is best to directly contact your planned issuing office. Sending the starter packs by mail is not possible for logistical reasons.

At the [StonemanFullName] you can use the mountain cable railways to return to your accommodation at the end of the day or to get back to the track the next day.

The mountain cable railway operates from Eggishorn to the Fiescheralp and from there to Fiesch. Another one operates from the Bettmerhorn to the Bettmeralp and from there to the base station in Betten. You can see the exact schedules for the summer here. On the Stoneman we do our best to keep the praised signposting complete and up to date. In addition, you will receive a detailed route map with the Classic starter pack. Especially for gold-starters we recommend the additional use of the GPX-Track, so you can enjoy the Stoneman-flow without unwanted stops. Three days before the start you will receive the latest track by mail, which also includes detours i.e. due to storm damage.

The entire route is well signposted in a counter-clockwise direction. You will find the Stoneman Hike figures either attached to the local hiking signs or as markers on the ground. We recommend to have the current GPS track with you in case you are unsure. You will always receive the current GPX track by mail three days before your start. For the use either GPS devices or Apps are suitable, which function after download of the map section also offline, for example OsmAnd or Komoot.

Whether Classic, Card or with the Stater Pack Now: you have more than earned your trophy and the legendary stone! You can also collect these easily and contactlessly after your ride.

As soon as you enter your finish, you will automatically receive an e-mail. This will include a link to our finisher store, which contains exclusive items for finishers only. There you will also find the entire trophy as well as the stone and the pedestal individually.

So you can relax and have the trophy delivered to your home, where it will keep your achievement forever and unmistakably.

Basically, the Stoneman starter card will be handed in where you received it, i.e. at your lodging partner or your official issuing office.

Usually, your lodging partner or the issuing office will finish the trip right after you return, show your punched card, and pick up your stone or trophy, if applicable. If there is a lot of business, this may take a day. If your name is not on the list after one day, please contact your partner or send us a message to hello@stoneman.bike. If you have already received your finisher mail, but your name is not on the list, then you probably forgot to check the corresponding box during registration.
